Check whether the flooring estimate includes waste
Bunnings' flooring calculator uses room dimensions and a price per square metre, and explicitly excludes waste. If you have used that result, allow for the cuts in your laying plan before rounding up to whole packs.
Record the area covered by one pack separately from its price. A low square-metre price can still mean buying another complete pack. Underlay, trims and installation are separate costs unless your chosen product or quote explicitly includes them.
Paint coverage and curtain fabric need product details
Dulux's paint calculator uses surface area, spreading rate and coats. Use the coverage stated for your selected paint; rough surfaces and preparation can change actual consumption. Keep ceiling paint separate if its product or coat count differs from the walls.
For curtains, measure the installed track or rod and decide the finished drop first. Australian suppliers use terms such as blockout, sheer and eyelet. These describe the curtain style; fabric width, fullness and pattern repeat determine the fabric quantity.
Choose potting mix before counting bags
Bunnings lists potting mix, garden soil mix and compost as distinct categories. Check the intended use before entering a bag size. The volume calculation tells you how much material fits, rather than which mix a particular plant needs.
Measure the planter internally to its intended fill line and allow for existing root balls. Compare the required litres with the bag volume, then enter the actual AUD price. Delivery charges and tools belong in a separate project allowance.
Frequently asked questions
Should I add waste to every flooring calculator result?
Check what the result already includes. Add an allowance once, according to the layout and installation instructions, then round up using the coverage of the pack you intend to buy.
Does changing the currency convert a shop price?
No. Enter the Australian-dollar price quoted by your supplier. Currency selection labels your estimate; it does not provide an exchange rate or a current retail price.
